Located in Belmont, we see patients from across the Lake Macquarie region including Belmont, Kotara, Swansea and Rathmines

COMMON INJURIES

Some injuries to the feet and legs are more common than others. Many patients seek out our help to deal with painful and debilitating injuries, such as:

  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Muscle strain
  • Knee pain
  • Shin splints
  • Stress fractures
  • Turf toe

If you suffer from one of these common injuries, we can help. It’s not a good idea to wait it out and hope for the injury to heal without assistance. These and other injuries often need intervention to heal properly. With our treatment plans, you can recover well and work to prevent the injury from recurring.

FEET AND LEGS ARE COMPLEX PARTS OF THE BODY

They have a vital function that requires many different moving parts. The podiatrists in our practice are skilful professionals capable of noticing inconsistencies and responding to them with the appropriate examinations and treatments. Whether it’s an irregularity in your gait, instability in your balance or a slight limp as you step, we’ll seek out the root of the problem and address it directly.

CHILDREN’S SPORTS INJURIES

Active and athletic children sometimes face injuries associated with their sport of choice. We commonly see children with injuries caused by muscle overuse, overextension of the tendons or ligaments or repeated stress to sensitive parts of the foot or leg.

Sever’s Disease is one such ailment we help to treat in children. It is a condition where the heel causes pain because of repeated stress from physical activity in a growing child. Although it’s not a permanent condition, it’s uncomfortable, and it prevents the child from participating in physical activity if left untreated. The usual treatment involves icing, anti-inflammatory medications, supportive structures within the shoes and a series of exercises.

CHILDREN’S INJURIES

need attention as they happen. Because their bones and connective tissues are still growing, they’re more injury-prone in some stages of life than adults. Injuries in youth can cause pain, aches and further injuries in later years when not properly addressed. We can help you diagnose the problem early and treat it immediately.

RECOVERY & TREATMENT

Treating injuries to the foot, lower legs and knees takes time. If the injury has been present for longer, you may have to work to correct your gait and strengthen your muscles to support proper walking, running and movement.

After assessing an injury, we often recommend a specific set of stretches, strengthening exercises, massage methods and supportive measures to help you restore your walk. Custom supports, such as orthotic inserts, can prove to be helpful during recovery from an injury.

Physical therapy may be helpful in the early stages of treatment to ensure that the exercises have the right effect. Full recovery may take months with injuries in this region of the body, but we will help you stick with it and support your body as it heals.

Contact Lake Macquarie and James Pascoe Podiatry in Belmont for assistance with injuries in your feet, knees and lower legs. We will help you get back to your normal self again.
